In the recent LE, we have seen how important it is for teachers to get proficient about the uses of technology in the classroom and to achieve this goal there should be enough opportunities for the teaching staff to get information and training on new technologies. It is also clear that the motivated staff, no matter what age group or grade division, will produce better, more effective results. Also through our surveys it is shown that teacher don’t just want and need training but they need on-going support as well to utilize new technologies. Consistent remedial sessions and resources after a professional development session are required for deeper and longer lasting results in the technology changes.
Our surveys have also shown that teachers and school boards are more interested in employing technology in the areas of assessment. They want to utilize technology to collect, record and analyse evidence of student learning on user friendly technology applications. They are motivated to get informed and skilled at using these types of applications in their daily work.
Also, it is evident that integration of different subject material is easier to accomplish with the help of technology. Logically it is important that teachers integrate different subject areas to save time and achieve multiple learning goals. This integration is easier and in some cases faster if technology is utilized.
